… celebrating American holidays to inspire civic responsibility.
Raising Citizens is a new year-round public program that inspires families to explore our democratic tradition and their personal family stories through celebrations of major American holidays. Engaging activities in museums and at home allow families to experience renewed meaning in our civic calendar and turn what is usually time off into meaningful time on to help raise our next generation of citizens.
A partnership of the Children's Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) and Freedom's Feast, Raising Citizens focuses on six major American holidays and the special qualities they feature that every healthy democracy needs in its citizens.
CMOM sponsors a series of public programs with experiences and hands-on activities to spark inter-generational civic conversation and action. Freedom's Feast provides fun, flexible on-line ceremonies and other enrichments to extend the celebration, conversation and action beyond the museum walls.
Please visit our partner CMOM to see what's happening with Raising Citizens at the Museum.
